Behind every great business is a story - and ours begins with Julie Roberton, the founder and heart of JR Admin Assist Ltd. Julie isn’t just a business owner; she’s a problem-solver, an organiser, and someone who genuinely loves helping others find clarity in the chaos of running a business.
From a Secretary’s Desk to Business Owner
Julie’s career began back in the mid-80s as a junior secretary in a small law firm. It didn’t take long for her talent for organisation and her approachable nature to shine, and within a year she was promoted to support a partner of the firm. That early experience sparked a career that would span over three decades, taking her into senior administration roles at the Solicitors Regulation Authority, the Law Society, and the Freight Transport Association.
Over the years, Julie became known not just for her professionalism, but for her ability to bring calm to busy teams, to improve the way things were done, and to support leaders so they could focus on what mattered most.
Taking the Leap
In 2014, after years of working in structured corporate environments, Julie decided it was time to take her wealth of knowledge and build something of her own. That’s when JR Admin Assist Ltd was born.
Starting small, Julie worked tirelessly to provide executive assistant and secretarial services to local businesses. Word spread quickly about her friendly, dependable approach, and before long, she was leading a team of skilled virtual assistants supporting clients across different industries - from charities and surveyors to solicitors and CEOs.
What Drives Julie
At her core, Julie believes business owners shouldn’t have to do it all alone. She knows the pressure of overflowing inboxes, back-to-back meetings, and endless paperwork and she loves stepping in to ease that load. Her clients value not just her efficiency, but her kindness, reliability, and the reassurance that nothing will slip through the cracks when she’s on the job.
She often says the best part of her work is knowing she’s made someone’s day easier -whether it’s by capturing the minutes of a board meeting, organising a CEO’s diary, or even just bringing order to a cluttered inbox.
Beyond the Office
Julie is more than her career history and qualifications (though she has plenty of those too - from management NVQs to training in GDPR, HR, and diversity). She’s also someone who values connection, learning, and teamwork.
Whether she’s supporting a charity board, helping a new business find its feet, or mentoring her own team of virtual assistants, Julie brings warmth and genuine care into everything she does.
